Mini Session Events-Explained
You guys I am incredibly excited to introduce my first Mini Session Events this year, I have the first venue on the calendar for July 11th 2021 and will be putting those on sale ASAP! I really wanted to take a quick moment to share with you my own transformation in this area as this is a new concept for my business that has brought so much clarity to how I run things.
From the very start my heart and passion around photographing people has been to bless people, to offer a service specifically for people who deserve amazing photographed memories but would never be able to set aside half their monthly budget to make it happen. I could go into why photography costs so much but I’ll save that for another post.
I knew my heart was in the right place even when everyone around me was constantly pushing that you have to raise your prices, know your worth, charge for prints, stop offering such a variety of services...And you know what I was right to wait and so were all the voices of business wisdom that told me its time to change. The bottom line is… the time, energy, and overall cost of a single mini session matches up pretty much the same as a full session. So it ultimately doesn’t make any sense to be offering them at any lower rate then a full session. It’s not a good deal for me and not a good deal for my clients as it clogs the workflow and the schedule. I had to walk through this year to know this and that’s ok, it’s the perfect timing for my business to change and grow.
I LOVE mini sessions not only for their affordability but the length and style of capturing just a few moments quickly, without as much pressure… the whole concept really meshes with my personality and many of my clients. I’ve struggled for over a year with letting go of the “mini session”. It’s what my clients WANT! It’s what I enjoy MOST! Why would I and how would that change my business to just...not do them?
I finally came to my senses this year and realized I don’t have to let them go! In fact if anything my mini session experience is going to be 10x better for me AND my clients. You can still choose a mini session for those of you that just want a few great shots for a Christmas card or with kiddos that don't want to sit for an hour session. The only change is you must choose a mini session from an event meaning the dates and locations are already fixed, I will host hopefully a minimum of three events next year in a variety of locations primarily between Salem-Oregon City.
These sessions will be at especially beautiful locations, there will always be multiple backgrounds available and I hope to invest in some props for at least Holiday minis next winter. You can book a mini for- milestones, engagements, families, siblings, friends couples, senior portrait, pet portraits…you name it!
Shooting all my minis in one day in one place means significantly less hours of driving, preparing, choosing locations, communication, as well as editing. I’ll have MORE time to fit you all in this year, and that’s the best part.
